Survivors Celebration

It’s a party with a purpose

January 16, 2020

The survivors celebration, a free event co-sponsored by Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, is for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. The turnout for the 2019 event was at capacity with survivors, families, caregivers and volunteers. Resource tables staffed by volunteers provided information on survivorship, community support programs and cancer prevention.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate survivorship, come together in hope and have fun. As our community’s leader in cancer care, this is an event that we look forward to hosting and enjoy celebrating with our patients and families.”
– Debra Friedman, MD, the E. Bronson Ingram Chair of Pediatric Oncology and director of Vanderbilt-Ingram’s Survivorship programs
550 people attended the event
800 tacos were consumed
576 ice cream treats were served
11 states were represented
189 faces were painted
